We study the effects of mass-averaging over the widths of rho and a(1) meso
ns, respectively, on the branching ratios of heavy baryon decays involving
rho or a(1) mesons in the final state. The smearing effects lead to the low
ering of branching ratios by about 10-30%. We have also calculated the smea
red branching ratios for the two-body hadronic decays of B and B-s mesons.
The results thus obtained are in good agreement with the experimental value
s wherever available.
