Abstract
We have investigated type-I noncritically phase-matched second harmonic gen eration in z-cut Gd1-xYxCOB. The dependence of the phase-matching wavelengt h on the parameter x was examined. Gd0.94Y0.16COB is suitable for generatin g 465 nm-blue light by frequency doubling of Nd:YAlO3 emitting around 930 n m on the F-4(3/2) --> I-4(9/2) transition. 17 mW of 465 nm laser output wer e obtained by intracavity second harmonic generation using a 802 nm pump di ode.
