Abstract
Efficient stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) in triclinic gamma-KIO3 and hex agonal alpha-LiIO3 crystals was observed under picosecond laser excitation. All scattering components were identified and connected with the SRS-activ e vibration modes of these iodates. We classify the gamma-KIO3 and alpha-Li IO3 acentric compounds as promising (chi((2)) + chi((3))) media for Raman l aser shifters.
