Abstract
Some optical and electrical properties of thin films in the Ag2Te-CdTe syst em are studied as a function of the cadmium content. In order to determine the optical band-gap, E-g, the transmission spectra of films are analysed. From the transmission and the refraction spectra, the relationship between the absorption coefficient alpha and the wavelength lambda at different CdT e contents is derived. The temperature dependence of the electrical conduct ivity is measured and the thermal band-gap, E-a, is determined. The relatio n between these parameters and the composition of the samples is discussed. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
