This paper concerns the computation and measurement of electromagnetic fiel
ds inside a cavity with a narrow slot. We study the effect of the wall thic
kness and the shape of the slot on the fields inside the cavity. We use the
method of moments (MoM) and the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) metho
d for the computations. We investigate the capabilities of each method of c
omputation, and compare our results with the measurements. (C) 2000 John Wi
