A novel bow-tie slot antenna fed by CPW is investigated. It is designed to
work on a thick substrate (h = 62 mil) with a high dielectric constant (eps
ilon(r) = 10.1). Two metal stubs are introduced at the center of the bow-ti
e slot antenna to control the impedance matching and the cross-polarization
level. As a result, no balun network is required. A parametric study based
on a numerical spectral domain is performed. A bandwidth of more than 40%
is achieved, and the experimental results are presented. (C) 2000 John Wile
