Abstract
The dynamics of the crack growth process in a medium containing many initia l defects is investigated through the time-dependent cluster size distribut ion function using Monte Carlo simulations and scaling theory. Each initial defect in a medium is assumed to have two crack tips like the Griffith cra ck The effect of anisotropy of a medium on crack growth patterns is also st udied.
