Abstract
Initial value problems as well as stationary solitary and periodic waves ar e investigated for dissipative Benjamin-Ono (DBO) equation. Multi-hump stat ionary waves and their structures are identified numerically and the stabil ity regions of stationary periodic waves are also examined numerically. The se results elucidate a close relation between irregular behaviours in the i nitial value problem and the multiplicity of stationary waves. (C) 2000 Els evier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
