Abstract
Metastable phases of the Zn-Mn system can be prepared at low temperatu re by electrochemical methods. epsilon and epsilon beta BCC alloys can be obtained as a function of the operating conditions, Structural stu dies are reported concerning the thermal stability of the metastable p hases, their grain growth behaviour and their stress state as a functi on of heat-treatment time and temperature, Equilibrium structures cann ot be obtained by heating the epsilon phase below the eutectoidic temp erature, equilibrium alpha' can be precipitated from metastable beta(B CC).
