Fh. Pujol et al., DETERMINATION OF GENOTYPES OF HEPATITIS-C VIRUS IN VENEZUELA BY RESTRICTION-FRAGMENT-LENGTH-POLYMORPHISM, Journal of clinical microbiology, 35(7), 1997, pp. 1870-1872
Hepatitis C virus genotypes in Venezuela were analyzed by restriction
fragment length polymorphism in the 5' noncoding region, The absence o
f BstUI digestion was found to be a useful marker for genotype 2 speci
mens. From 122 serum samples, 65, 20, and 2.5% were classified as geno
types 1, 2, and 3, respectively; 0.8% were classified as genotype 4; a
nd 10% appeared to be mixed infections.
