Abstract
Ionophore antibiotic monensin (1) was converted to 25-carboxylmonensin (3), which has two carboxyl groups at both ends of the molecule. Ca2+ ion trans port activity of 25-carboxylmonensin (3) was evaluated by the CHCl3 liquid membrane method, and the activity was 3.1 times the value of the calcium io nophore, lasalocid A.
