Abstract
A new monomer, 4,4'-bis(2,3,5-triphenylcyclopentadien-4-yl- l-on)tolane was synthesized by the reaction of 4,4'-bis(phenylglyoxalyl)tolane with a twof old molar amount of 1,3-diphenylacetone in ethanol. New acetylene-containin g phenylated polyphenylenes were-obtained from this monomer and bis(acetyle nes) by the Diels-Alder reaction in trichlorobenzene. Some properties of th e resulting Polymers and the related films were studied, and it was demonst rated that the synthesized polymers can be crosslinked via triple bonds.
