Hexafluoroisopropyildene-containing phenylated polyphenylenes

1,1,1,3,3,3-Hexafluoro-2,2-bis[2,4,5-triphenyl-3-(p-phenylene)cyclopentadie n-1-on]propane was obtained by the reaction of 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoro-2,2-b is[phenylglyoxalyl(p-phenylene)]propane with a twofold molar amount of 1,3- diphenylacetone in ethanol. The interaction of bis(cyclopentadienone) with diethynylarylenes (m- and p-diethynylbenzenes and 4,4'-diethynylbenzophenon e) under the conditions of the Diels-Alder reaction yielded hexafluoroisopr opylidene-containing phenylated polyphenylenes combining high thermal chara cteristics with solubility in organic solvents and low dielectric constants .
