This paper summarizes advances in the field of polycondensation attained by
the scientific school of academician Korshak: heterogeneous nonequilibrium
matrix polycondensation in the presence of naturally occurring and synthet
ic polymeric matrices; equilibrium polycondensation in the presence of inor
ganic fillers which catalyze the process and lead to formation of filled po
lymers directly during the synthesis; polycondensation catalyzed by the rar
e-earth metal compounds; and polycondensation of nontraditional monomers.
