A considerable number of borophosphates has been characterized in the past
six years [1, 2]; however no chromium based compounds have been reported so
far. The title compound was synthesized by high temperature reaction (1273
K) of mixtures of Cr2O3 with BPO4 (molar ratio 1:3) and CrPO4 . 4H(2)O wit
h BPO4 . xH(2)O (molar ratio 2 : 1), respectively. The syntheses were carri
ed out under air. The starting materials were of analytical grade, The crys
tal structure was solved by direct methods from X-ray powder data and refin
ed by Rietveld methods [3-5], The chemical composition was confirmed by ICP
-AES analysis.
