HUSAR (iodosulfuron, mefenpyr-diethyl) is a new innovative herbicide for th
e control of silky bentgrass (Apera spice venti (L.) BEAUV.), Poa spp., Lol
ium spp. and broad leaved weeds in winter and spring cereals. The window of
application is from the start of vegetation until the beginning of shootin
g (BBCH 30-32) for winter cereals and from stage BBCH 13 to the end of till
ering (BBCH 29-30) for spring cereals.
It is possible to control silky bentgrass by 10 g a.i./ha Iodosulfuron in a
wide window of application. Poa spp., which are very well controlled by IP
U, are also controlled by HUSAR. Furthermore, the spectrum of HUSAR include
s a range of important broad leaved weeds. It is possible to apply HUSAR ve
ry early in spring and to use it in mixture with liquid fertiliser - these
are main advantages of the product. In spring cereals HUSAR is able to cont
rol a broad spectrum of broad leaved weeds.
The publication is based on a five year trial with HUSAR and the results ar
e presented in this paper. The results are describing efficacy, selectivity
, yield performance and influence on crop rotation. Furthermore the planned
product positioning in Germany is presented.
