Abstract
During the last few years reed became a serious weed problem on the fields in Hungary. The most infected crops are cereals, maize and sunflower. Since reed spreads mostly by vegetative means systemic herbicides can control th em effectively. In our work we have studied the effect of five systemic herbicides on reed. The active ingredients of these herbicides are quizalofop-p-tefuril (PANTE RA 40 EC), haloxyfop-R-methylester (PERENAL) fluazifop-P-butyl (FUSILADE S) , glyphosate-trimesium (MEDALLON), and propaquizafop (AGIL 100 EC). The pla nt height was measured on the 30(th) and 120(th) day after treatment. From each treatment samples of rhizomes were taken. Under laboratory conditions the emergence of shoots of these rhizomes was analysed.
