Montan wax is a fossil ester wax. It forms part of the extractable, bitumin
ous components of lignite and peat. Refined montan wax is the base material
for the production of dispersions. It can be used in tank-mix applications
of different pesticides and utilized for the formulation of active ingredi
ents. Using FTIR-spectroscopy it is possible to detect some of the advantag
es of the spray like rainfastness or reduced volatility due to the utilizat
ion of a wax emulsion as spray adjuvant.
