Abstract
Electronic spectra of C-7(-), C-9(-), and C-11(-) were measured in the gas phase for the first time using resonance-enhanced detachment. The band origin of the transition to the lowest excited state for each of these three anions was determined. For C-7(-) and C-9(-), several oth er higher excited states were also detected. The 0(0)(0) transitions f or a series of linear chain anions from C-5(-) to C-11(-) were compare d with those previously reported for even-numbered series. Slight diff erences were noted between the even- and odd-numbered series. (C) 1997 American Institute of Physics.
