Tm. Leon, A new species of Ammothea and other pycnogonids from around Livingston Island, South Shetland Islands, Antarctica, ANTARCT SCI, 12(1), 2000, pp. 47-51
Specimens of 22 species of pycnogonids belonging to twelve genera and seven
families were collected during a cruise near Livingston Island, South Shet
land Islands. Twenty two of the 94 stations yielded pycnogonids: the new sp
ecies Ammothea hesperidensis is described fully, illustrated, and compared
with similar species. The family Nymphonidae provided both the greatest div
ersity of species (seven) and number of specimens (35). The most abundant s
pecies were Achelia hoekii and Nymphon australe.
