This paper reports the results of a study on the ion-exchange equilibr
ium of Cu2+ and Zn2+ at different temperatures on chelating ion-exchan
ge resins: Amberlite IRC-718 (iminodiacetic acid based functional grou
ps), VPC-1 (picolinic acid based) and thiourea-based resins. The separ
ation factors and the conditional equilibrium constants of the ion-exc
hange reaction were determined in temperature range from 15 to 75 degr
ees C. An estimation of thermodynamic functions has also been carried
out. Possibility of the separation of Cu and Zn mixture by dual temper
ature ion-exchange method has been demonstrated.
