A major goal in the management of cystic fibrosis patients is to maintain a
good nutritional status as it improves long-term survival. A link is clear
ly established between the degree of malnutrition and the severity of the d
isease. Clinical and biological follow-up, better knowledge of energy requi
rements, dietary counseling and nutritional intervention help to optimize t
he growth of these patients through childhood and adolescence. (C) 2000 Edi
