Abstract
Chemical burns are unique injuries that require specialized knowledge and m anagement principles to obtain the best treatment outcome. The treatment of chemical burns is difficult. Minor injuries can be safely treated by a sur geon with interest and experience. The upper extremity is especially at ris k for injury in work-related accidents. This article outlines the pathophys iology of chemical injury and discusses surgical treatment alternatives nee ded for a successful outcome.
