The classification of acute burn injuries to the hand can have predictive f unctional outcome. Unfortunately, the management of delayed burn injuries t o the hand has received attention only recently. In children, even the most devastating and deforming burn injuries are managed so that functional out come is significantly improved. Vigilance in maintaining a rigorous postope rative physical therapy program, however, is essential.
