Abstract
The Kanematsu transformation was employed for the preparation of tetrahydro isobenzofuran-4-carboxylic acid (12), alpha-methylation, subsequent convers ion into the diazoethanone 14, and, finally, treatment with dirhodium tetra acetate of which furnished the hydrindanone 1 of the steroid C-D ring struc ture.
