A robust feedback control of an induction motor is proposed. The theoretica
l basis is a continuous-time machine model defined by a pair of simultaneou
s complex-coefficients differential equations. The parameter uncertainties
and load perturbations are considered in the controller design. The control
methodology is based on sliding mode control techniques. The design of a s
liding mode controller for tracking the torque and the rotor flux of an ind
uction motor drive is also given. The design includes the hardware structur
e, control laws for torque control and rotor flux control. The modulation i
s defined as part of the variable structure control algorithm which enables
an optimum choice of the output voltage of the static converter. The valid
ity and robustness of the proposed control system were verified by simulati
on. The simulation results are presented to demonstrate their agreement wit
h the theoretical predictions of the proposed controller. Copyright (C) 200
