Abstract
Instability phenomena in manufacturing plastic films by film blowing i s studied in the framework of linear stability analysis. This approach consists in disturbing the steady-state solution and studying the tim e behaviour of disturbances. The present paper deals with the steady-s tate solution. With a realistic rheological model, the Phan-Thien and Tanner model, numerical predictions are in good agreement with experim ental data.
