Abstract
Thermodynamic interactions in the ethane-1,2-diol (1) + 1,2-dimethoxyethane (2) + water (3) ternary system have been investigated in terms of the exce ss molar volume, derived from density measurements at 19 different temperat ures from -10 degrees to 80 degrees C. Fourteen three-component mixtures ha ve been considered, covering the entire composition range. The excess molar volumes are discussed in terms of conformational changes induced in each c omponent by the presence of another one. The results obtained support the h ypothesis of the absence of any three-component complex adducts under all e xperimental conditions investigated.
