Abstract
We evaluated [C-11]fluvoxamine as a tracer for the serotonin re-uptake site . Studies of the distribution of the tracer in rat and primate brain showed adequate uptake of [C-11]fluvoxamine, but failed to reveal regions with kn own high density of serotoninergic re-uptake sites. Pretreatment with unlab eled fluvoxamine did not substantially change the distribution. In rat brai n tissue, nearly all radioactivity represented intact [C-11]fluvoxamine. [C -11]Fluvoxamine does not function as a tracer for serotonin re-uptake sites , owing to high nonspecific binding in the brain. NUCL MED BIOL 27;2:177-18 1, 2000. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Inc.
