HD 2I(4)8(4), a hitherto neglected eighth-magnitude late-type star near the
Taurus/Cetus boundary, is shown to be a spectroscopic binary with quite a
high eccentricity (o . 55) and a period of four years. Indirect evidence pe
rmits a guess that the spectral type of the observed component is about K2
III and that its unseen companion (if not itself a binary system) is an F/G
main-sequence star.
