Abstract
This article describes a new alternative technique for stabilization of uns table sacroiliac injuries using the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital (TSRH) ins trumentation. The TSRH instrumentation was applied in 14 consecutive patien ts with unstable posterior pelvic ring disruptions. All patients underwent follow-up for an average of 29 months. Clinical results, using the rating s ystem of d'Aubigne, were good in 9 and satisfactory in 5 patients. No press ure sores, infection, significant loss of correction, or hardware failures were observed postoperatively. The use of the TSRH instrumentation for stab ilization of sacroiliac injuries offered sufficient stabilization of the po sterior pelvic ring and permitted early mobilization without loss of correc tion.
