Both, the magnetisation and the magnetoresistivity of a GdIn3 single crysta
l have been investigated at 4.2 K in magnetic fields up to 40 T. The magnet
isation shows an almost linear dependence on the applied field and reaches
a value of only 3.4 mu(B)/Gd-atom at the highest applied field strength. Th
e magnetoresistance shows a saturation-type of dependence on the field. Bot
h quantities investigated display a distinct anomaly at about 30 T in their
field dependencies. A possible origin of this field-induced anomaly will b
e discussed. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
