We report the first results on the electrical resistivity. the magnetic sus
ceptibility and magnetization measurements of single-crystalline EuRu4P12.
The compound crystallizes in the cubic structure of the filled skutterudite
type, Single crystals of EuRu4P12 were grown in a molten Sn flux. The resi
stivity shows metallic behavior and decreases sharply below 18 K. The magne
tic measurements point to Ferromagnetic behavior below 18 K. At high temper
atures, the susceptibility follows a Curie-Weiss behavior for the three mai
n cubic unit-cell directions. The effective high-temperature moments and th
e saturation magnetization are slightly smaller than those of Eu2+ ion. Thi
s Fact implies that the presence of about 10% of Eu3+. (C) 2000 Elsevier Sc
