Direct observation of orbital ordering in the ferromagnetic YTiO3 (T-C simi
lar or equal to 30 K) has been made by means of the polarized neutron diffr
action technique. The observed magnetic form factors obtained from the asph
erical contribution of the spin density distribution have been satisfactori
ly explained by the linear combination of the wave functions \z] and \zx] i
n terms of the orbital ordering scheme. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All
