Abstract
New neutron-diffraction results on the magnetically ordered phase of TmTe a re presented. Below the Neel temperature, T-N approximate to 0.4 K, an addi tional ferromagnetic intensity is observed in addition to the already repor ted type-II antiferromagnetic peaks. This effect is ascribed to a canted ma gnetic structure of the Tm moments, consistent with the O-2(2)-type antifer roquadrupolar order occurring below T-Q = 1.8 K. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V.
