Abstract
We will describe the growth of single crystals of the layered perovskite Ca 2RuO4 by a floating-zone method. We have confirmed that stoichiometric Ca2R uO4 is a Mott insulator. Canted antiferromagnetic (CAF) ordering occurs bel ow 113 K. We also discuss the development of a short-range CAF order below 150 K. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
