Present Indian ferrite industry has come long way. Commercial producti
on of ferrites started in 1960's. The production of ferrites in 1990 w
as about 7000 MT which has grown to about 15000 MT by 1995 indigenousl
y. Indian ferrite industry is now posed for big jump and now getting r
eady to compete in the world market. The major companies are now propo
sing for big expansions in their production capacities with a desire t
o become global player. These plans have got further boost due to new
economic reforms initiated by the Govt. of India and helping the indus
try to increase their share in world ferrite market. The new liberalis
ed policy of Indian Govt. have also attracted many foreign companies t
o set up their production bases in India. The present paper deals in d
etail the scenario of the Indian industry, availability of main input
raw materials, new Govt. policies, opportunities for new ventures etc.
