Abstract
We have measured the ultrasonic velocity of kappa-(BEDT-TTF)(2)Cu(NCS)(2) b elow 140 K by using devised transducers. The hand-made thin transducer with 50 mu m in thickness enables us to make high-frequency measurements with t he frequency over 90 MHz, The longitudinal sound velocity shows a clear sof tening below 70 K with a small minimum at 46 K. This anomaly was discussed in connection with the insulator to metal crossover behavior of this salt. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
