This paper presents and discusses nomenclatural changes in the molluscan fa
mily Fasciolariidae. Peristernia reincarnata n.sp, is described for Turbine
lla incarnata "Kiener, 1840", and Fusinus quandumpulchellus n.sp. is descri
bed for Fusus pulchellus Philippi, 1844. Two new names are proposed: Dolich
olatirus smithi nom. nov. pro Latirus angustus E.A. Smith, 1884 (non Murex
angustus Gmelin, 1791) and Fusinus complex nom. nov. pro Fusus simpler E.A.
Smith, 1879 (non F. simplex Deshayes, 1835, nec F. simplex Grateloup, 1847
). The priority of Pleuroploca clava (Jonas, 1846) over Plueroploca persica
(Reeve, 1847) is noted. Corrected dates of authorship and original descrip
tion locations are given for Dolicholatirus acus, Fusinus gracillimus and F
usinus spectrum, all three species of Adams and Reeve in Reeve, 1848, and f
or Pleuroploca lugubris heynemanni (Dunker in Kuster and Kobelt, 1876). The
spelling of Fusinus anni Snyder, 1986 is emended grammatically to F. annae
.
