Studies devoted to Waldensian sources and to the evolution of research meth
ods over the past ten years have broken little new ground. The few, rare pu
blications of sources have shown it is possible to uncover new sources, a c
ertain number of which have never been published. It is worth noting that o
ften their existence has been revealed by researchers who are not Waldensia
n specialists. As far as methods are concerned, it is now clear that each s
ource must be attentively situated in time and space if we are to have any
hope of understanding it correctly, not to mention the fact that a single t
ext can reveal multi-layered composition.
