Abstract
Alcohols and Phenols are protected efficiently with dihydropyran(DHP) in th e presence of catalytic amounts of zirconium tetrachloride in dichlorometha ne. Deprotection of THP-ethers is also afforded in a methanolic solution at room temperature.
