Fine delta-FeOOH particles were introduced onto thr: surface of barium
ferrite particles. The method was to coat tile barium ferrite particl
es with Fe2+ solution first at certain concentrations, followed by add
ition of NaOH(aq), and finally oxidized by 35 wt% H2O2(aq). The result
s showed that the coercivity of barium ferrite could be lowered greatl
y to 2290 Or and its magnetization could be sustained st a level highe
r than 45 emu/g. It indicates that there exists an interaction between
barium ferrite and delta-FeOOH fine particles, which leads to tile de
crease in coercivity, and this interaction is a matter of interface an
d may not bear dependency on whether chemical bonding is formed betwee
n them.
