New data on composition, radiological age, and tectonic position of RE
-specialized granitoids of Altai have been summarized. It has been est
ablished that the granite massifs belong to two stages corresponding t
o Permian-Triassic and Triassic-Jurassic borders. The granite and alka
line-basalt complexes associated with the same shift faults are intima
tely joint in time and structure. This suggests rift strike-slip natur
e of granite magmas. It has been shown that Altai is one of the wester
n sectors of the Asian largest Permian-Triassic rift system, which con
tains igneous rocks of the OrhonSelenga trough (Mongolia) and Semeitau
volcano-plutonic structure (Eastern Kazakhstan).
