Abstract
Two phycobiliproteins, C-Phycocianin (C-PC) and Allophycocinin (APC), can b
e isolated as pure compounds from Spirulina plantensis using either an opti
mized LPLC method or a novel HPLC method. The time required for HPLC isolat
ion (34 min) or analysis (25 min) is much shorter than for LPLC (310 min).
On average, recoveries from the natural or commercial product are 10 times
greater than reported in literature.
