Abstract
Using high-resolution spectra, we have determined the abundances of carbon (log epsilon (C)), nitrogen (log epsilon (N)), oxygen (log epsilon (O)), si licon (log epsilon (Si)), sulphur (log epsilon (S)), and some other element s for three delta Scuti stars. Log epsilon(C) for all three stars and log e psilon (N) for epsilon Set and HD 127986 are close to the solar values, whi le there appears to be a slight (0.15 dex) nitrogen deficiency for 14 Aur. The log epsilon(O) values correspond to a 0.30-dex deficiency for 14 Aur an d delta Set and a 0.20-dex deficiency for HD 127986. The values of log epsi lon (Si) for the three stars are close to solar, and the log epsilon (S) va lues indicate a slight deficiency (0.10 dex) for 14 Aur and HD 127986 and a 0.20-dex excess for delta Set. Comparison of the elemental abundances for seven delta Scuti stars with those for Am stars shows that the mean deficie ncies of C, N, and O are smaller for pulsating 6 Scuti stars than for Am st ars with similar effective temperatures. The sulphur abundances are virtual ly the same for both types of stars. (C) 2000 MAIK "Nauka/Interperiodica".
