Abstract
A new chlorinated red naphthoquinone pigment having antifungal activity, na med chlorosesamone, was isolated from the roots of Sesamum indicum. Its str ucture was characterized as 2-chloro-5,8-dihydroxy-3-(3-methyl-2-butenyl)-1 ,4-naphthoquinone on the basis of spectral evidence.
