K. Yamamoto et al., Identification and characterization of a potent antibacterial agent, NH125against drug-resistant bacteria, BIOS BIOT B, 64(4), 2000, pp. 919-923
New imidazole compounds were synthesized to develop a novel and effective a
ntibacterial agent (1-benzyl-3-cetyl-2-methylimidazolium iodide, NH125). In
vitro experiments demonstrated that NH125 effectively inhibited a number o
f different histidine protein kinases, Furthermore, oxacillin-resistant Sta
phylococcus aureus (ORSA), vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecalis (VRE)
, penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae (PRS), and other Gram-posit
ive and Gram-negative bacteria were found to be very sensitive to NH125.
