Abstract
A new flavanone diglucoside, calodendroside A (1), was isolated from the me thanolic extract of the stem bark of Ochna calodendron (Ochnaceae) and its structure elucidated as (2R,3R) taxifolin-3-O-glucosyl-(1-->2)-glucoside by means of chemical and spectroscopic evidence including H-1-H-1 and H-1-C-1 3 COSY NMR. The connection of the two sugar moities was determined by the u se of the heteronuclear multiple bond connectivities experiment (HMBC). To our knowledge, the present report is the first describing the isolation of a flavonoid diglucoside from a member of the Ochnaceae family.
