Abstract
1-Iodohexa-1,3,5-triyne (I) and hexa-1,3,5-triyne (II) spontaneously polyme rise in aprotic solution to form a solid carbonaceous product which contain s polyyne-like structures and multi-walled carbon nanotubes with outer diam eter ca. 10-20 nm and length 100-200 nm.
