Abstract
This account highlights developments in the field of supramolecular tetrath iafulvalene (TTF) chemistry. Progress in synthetic TTF chemistry during the past decade has allowed the preparation of a number of elaborate molecular systems based on host-guest interactions being able to act as either senso rs, molecular switches or mediators for specific reactions. Among these sys tems interlocked architectures such as rotaxanes and catenanes make a signi ficant contribution.
